Freshly ground cinnamon and the scent of a ripe lemon from our courtyard carry me light-years away — somewhere between a morning with my grandmother and the deep, quiet stillness that settles in after a cool seawater swim.
In that soft place, all I want is something simple and true: shakshouka from the Third Place in Abu Dhabi, a glass of cold sparkling water, and maybe a coffee with Majorcan almond cake from the Casino in Petra.
And the beautiful thing?
Coming back to your wilder inside is simpler than you think.
Cut a lemon in half and breathe in its brightness.
Roll fresh mint between your fingers and let the scent rise.
Take one slow, deep belly breath.
There you are — on your way home again.
